Welcome to our first “Year in Review” newsletter, it provides some highlights from 2019. It also looks forward to what we can expect of next year.
Primarily, all of us at DC Networks want to take this opportunity to thank all of our clients for their business over the last twelve months and for considering us as your IT partner. We hope in return that we have helped to guide you through any difficult times as we know that using computers and their systems can be a labyrinth that places blocks and distractions from focusing on your business.
Our goal, as always, is to remove those diversions by providing the support and solutions to your business when you need them.
Growth in 2019
Once again, in 2019 DC Networks has shown growth in its business that far exceeds the current trend for Managed Service Providers (MSPs). We would like to extend a warm welcome to all our new customers and we look forward to a long and happy relationship between our businesses. This growth allows us to continue to invest in our staff and other resources that help to keep your systems running at their best.
Looking to next year, there are many exciting opportunities for DC Networks. We have seen our team grow in 2019, and our primary objective is to grow our team further in 2020 so we can provide faster response times, more first-time fixes and continue to put the customer first in everything we do. To facilitate this growth, we foresee DC Networks moving to a larger office space next year.
Technical Issue Facing Irish Businesses
Our marketing team have worked very hard this year to create some fantastic articles that reach out to our clients and provide valuable information on how they can be more efficient and importantly, more secure in the work they carry out ensuring both their own privacy and that of their clients and friends.
We are all too busy at times to read these articles but there are a few topics that stood out this year that we would like to highlight, and a few that will be important next year and can form a part of some good new year’s resolutions.
Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) should be upmost in your to do list for this 2020, MFA is not just for securing your business data, remember all social media apps allow MFA to be enabled (Facebook, Google mail, Instagram, Snapchat ETC). (Protecting your Business with MFA)
Security breaches and data protection is once again the focus of the media so make sure your company name isn’t highlighted for the wrong reason this year. Small changes can make a big difference. (Cyber Security Tip Sheet)
Cyber security training is an area that took centre stage this year and as insurance companies require more and more proveable, demonstrable security systems in order to pay out on claims, this trend looks set to continue next year.
The last issue we try to highlight at the turn of every new year is business continuity. The start of the year is the perfect time for everyone to take stock of their business, their processes and put a plan in place to keep it all running should the worst happen. (Guide To Business Continuity Planning 2020)
To Our Staff
We have welcomed two new staff members in 2019, Robert Brennan and Ciaran Ormonde, who have made excellent additions to the DC Networks team.
We would also like to make a special mention for some of our more “established” colleagues who have been with us for a slightly longer time. I see that James is fast approaching 10 years with DC Networks, Ann & Feargal 11 years, both Stephens 7 years, and Sarah and Dermot 5 years. I think these examples show a buck in the trend for people in IT, where jumping from company to company seems to be the norm. We are delighted that people are happy to put down roots and choose to grow their careers with us as we hope to continue to help them fulfil their ambitions for a long time to come.
A huge congratulations to Amanda and Stephen who got engaged this year and we are really looking forward to the wedding in May 2020, where you will find us all dancing the night away in Enniscorthy.
DC Networks Golf Open
Thanks to Stuart for arranging the annual DC Networks Golf day in Deer Park, Howth. The event gets bigger and better each year and has become a staple of the calendar. Anyone wishing to be considered for next year just drop us an email.
And thanks to Sarah and Maggie for arranging a number of charity events during the year including the one I personally hate/love the most – “Christmas Jumper Day” (11th December). This year, they have arranged for the donations to go to Focus Ireland and DC Networks will add to these donations in lieu of posting Christmas Cards.
On a personal note, we would like to thank all the staff at DC Networks for the work they have put in during the last 12 months. It is seldom we are called when everything is fine and rosy – and they have carried themselves very well in some difficult circumstances.
Thanks to our partners/suppliers for going the extra mile for us, speeding up that PC or license key we needed.
And thanks to our clients who stuck with us during those times when phone lines might have been busy or response times out of the norm. And of course, during those times where those issues proved more difficult to resolve than expected. We always get there in the end!
Merry Christmas to all our Customers, our Partners, Suppliers and Staff. We wish you all a very happy new year.
From Max and Robert.
